Silicon Valley and Bay Area, USA
The Global Business and Management Field Study, a required course in the EMBA program, provides an opportunity for participants to visit places outside Hong Kong and gain exposure to different national environments and business operations. Previous EMBA graduates have carried out their field studies in major cities in China, Singapore, UK, Korea, Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. This year, the graduating class visited Silicon Valley and the Bay Area in USA between 6 and 10 June.

Several business people experienced in doing business in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area were invited to deliver pre-trip presentations to the participants. They included Mr. Julian de Jonquieres, Business Development Manager, Tesla Motors, Hong Kong and Macau; Mr. Al Kwok, Co-founder, International IP Commercialization Council Hong Kong Chapter and Ms. Yvonne Tsui, Country Manager, Hong Kong and Macau, FireEye Hong Kong Ltd.

During the study trip in the Bay Area, the participants visited nine companies and one university: Morning Star, Facebook, Airbnb, Stanford University, The North Face, Plantronics, Google, Tesla, FireEye and Dreyer’s.
